Development studies classify individuals with medical, mental, physical or psychological disorders under the Special Needs category. But there’s so much more to it that is undiscovered, even neglected.
Development studies classify individuals with medical, mental, physical or psychological disorders under the Special Needs category. But there’s so much more to it that is undiscovered, even neglected.
That really is the first step.
The next step is to ask ‘What can I do about it?’
The right answer is Early Intervention, Education and Training
How can Communicare help?
There are wide variations of learning abilities and special needs, with no single symptom or profile that serves as proof to the problem.
As a family member, educator or mentor figure, one is entrusted with the immense responsibility of the future of these children. It is therefore; imperative they understand their strengths, weaknesses, challenges, opportunities, fears and hopes in their journey towards being independent.
Communicare works with parents in the early identification, intervention and education of children with special needs and disabilities. We also train parents, teachers and caregivers who will be the guiding force in the lives of these children. Just as regular kids, at school, have various extra-curricular activities for their development, we enhance the awareness and responsiveness of special children through scientifically proven alternative methodologies that will help the child blossom, and respond, all while having fun…because, we care.
- Parents Partnership
Parents Partnership
As parents we recognise you as your child’s first and foremost educator. With this in mind, we aim to work in partnership with all our parents and care givers, as we understand this will have a positive impact on your child’s learning and development.
Parents involvement through:
- Parent and children home activities
- Parent and children class activities
- Parent and children outdoors activities
- Parent and keyworker one on one meeting.
The Communicare pre school and main school operates a key-person system whereby each child is allocated a team throughout their time at the school. This is one area we pride ourselves in, as the majority of staff are trained speech, occupational, early learning and movement therapists, working for a number of years and have the relevant qualifications and experience.
Prior to your child starting at Communicare, you will be invited for some settling in sessions.
Once your child is ready and settled to attend pre school, your child will be appointed a Key-Person which will be your main contact here.
The team will monitor and observe your child, recording their progress in their Learning Journey File. This will be updated bi monthly and available at all times for you to view. We welcome comments and suggestions from you at our one on one meetings and always love to hear any important milestones achieved by your child.
Other information is continually relayed to parents, via, emails, parent’s app (Coming soon), and one on one meetings.
- How We Track Progress
How We Track Progress
Our teams develop differentiated learning to meet each child’s individual development stage.
- We track the progress of the child, providing parents and caregivers with regular written assessments of their child’s progress and attainment against their assessment upon joining.
- We provide a complete progress check with consultation and input from the parents and caregivers
- Our checklist provide parents and caregivers with a definitive picture of their child’s development and allows early identification of any development needs as well as proposing appropriate intervention and support strategies.
